Personal/domestic
Papplewick Pumping Station is a Registered Museum with accessioned collections, including clothing and uniforms, personal and domestic items, engines tools and equipment.
Working
Papplewick association volunteers maintain the working practises of the past and record the methods that were followed in keeping a major public service running all day, every day, year in year out. This was a specialised and isolated community. Although the equipment was a of a very good standard for its day. Rugged reliability was essential and that depended on steam. There was no electricity on the site until 1926.
