Forthcoming publications

The following editions are currently under active preparation:

  1. The estate maps drawn by the surveyor William Senior between 1600 and 1640 for the two Cavendish cousins, the Earl of Newcastle and the Earl of Devonshire, photographed from the originals held at Welbeck Abbey and at Chatsworth House. These comprise over 130 superb full colour maps of the families’ estates, mainly in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire but with others in Staffordshire, Northumberland, and other counties. The edition will be on CD but with a printed editorial introduction.
  2. The estate and household accounts of Henry, 2nd Duke of Newcastle, compiled by his steward Thomas Farr, 1676-91, illuminating the lifestyle of his great houses of Welbeck Abbey and Nottingham Castle.
